Hi crafty friends! Interactive cards always feel a little magical, especially when the inside reveals an unexpected scene. This one opens like a tiny underwater storybook.

Card Details
I’m excited to share today’s handmade card featuring the Swivel Hinge Die. This die creates a fun, interactive surprise inside the card. I made a 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 inch square card, giving the mechanism plenty of room. First, I die-cut the mechanism pieces from heavyweight white cardstock. Then, I folded and attached them inside the card base.
Next, I created the outside and inside panels with the Tidal Layers Die. I cut two layers from the By The Sea Paper Pack. One decorates the card front, while the other anchors the first inside scene.
For the opposite panel, I layered blue cardstock with coordinating patterned paper. Together, the open pages create a colorful underwater storybook effect. I added the Porthole Die to the swivel circle. Gold Lunar Paste gives the navy frame a distressed antique brass finish. It looks like a porthole weathered by many seaside adventures.
As the mechanism moves, the turtle swings aside to reveal a camera-ready crab. Talk about getting the perfect shellfie! Once the layered scenes were assembled, I stamped images from Gulp Gulp Clear Stamp and Sea Ya Later Clear Stamp. I colored everything with Copic markers.
I also added the Palm Trees Die, Grass Patches Die, and Cherry Blossom Branches Die. The branches make surprisingly convincing seaweed. Who knew cherry blossoms could go snorkeling?
Finally, I cut the Lighthouse Die from white and yellow cardstock. I arranged the images and added sentiments with the Scalloped Sentiment Labels Die.
