Hi crafty friends! Cardinals always make such a beautiful addition to Christmas cards. I especially love pairing their rich red color with traditional holiday greenery. Today’s handmade cardinal Christmas card features products from the new Evergreen Wishes release by Brass & Bliss Craft Co. I added a bright turquoise background to give the classic Christmas colors a fresh and cheerful look.
Card Details
I began by creating the white card base and adding the detailed background from the Holly and Berries Layer Die. Using white cardstock kept the design subtle while adding plenty of texture. Next, I used the previously released Rectangle Combo #6 OPC Die to create the layered frame and turquoise center panel. The stitched and scalloped details help frame the main images without competing with them.
I stamped the cardinal, poinsettia, holly, and berries from the Holly and Cardinals Stamp Set. I colored the images in bold reds and rich greens before cutting them with the coordinating Holly and Cardinals Die Set. For a little extra sparkle, I die-cut several branches from gold glitter cardstock using the Pine Bough Set. I tucked them behind the stamped images to add texture and fill out the floral arrangement. The Merry Christmas sentiment comes from the Jolly Old Mischief Stamp Set. I used the coordinating Jolly Old Mischief Die Set to cut around the sentiment before adding it near the top of the card.
I finished the design by arranging the cardinal, poinsettia, holly, and gold branches across the turquoise panel. The bright background gives this traditional Christmas card a fun pop of color while still keeping that classic holiday feel.
