Beachy cards always make me happy, especially when there is a cute puffin involved. I mean, a scarf-wearing puffin by the lighthouse? How could I resist? Today I’m sharing a handmade summer card featuring the new La-La Land Crafts Summer Release, and this one is full of coastal cardmaking details.
Card Details
I started this handmade card by creating a bright coastal scene with the Summer Mix Paper Pack for the background. The blue woodgrain pattern gave the card that perfect seaside feel. Next, I layered the outer part of the A2 Bookplate Die over the patterned paper to frame the scene.
For the main image, I stamped and colored the adorable puffin from the Puffin By Clear Stamp. I tucked him right in front of the beach pilings, because every good beach card needs a little character and charm.
Next, I began working on the background scene. The Palm Trees Die adds a fun tropical touch, while the Lighthouse Die gives the card a bold coastal focal point. For the lighthouse, I used colored cardstock, then colored the rest of the die cuts with markers to add depth and dimension. I also added the Tall Waves Die behind the puffin and layered the Beach Pilings Border Die along the bottom to make the scene feel more complete.
To finish the card, I added the sentiment with the Scalloped Sentiment Labels Die. The “happiness comes in waves” sentiment felt perfect for this sweet summer scene.
