If retail therapy is your love language, then the La-La Land Crafts July 2025 Kit of the Month is made just for you! This month’s kit is packed with playful shopping-themed stamps and dies, perfect for creating cards with a bit of sass and a lot of personality.
Today I’m sharing two fun and quirky cards featuring Shopping Marci and an adorable ostrich on a shopping spree (because hey, that sale was just too good to resist!). Let’s walk through how I created these cards, from stamping to inking to full assembly.
Stamp, Color, Cut – Let the Magic Begin!
I began by stamping Marci and the adorable ostrich from the July KOTM onto heavyweight cardstock using a Copic-friendly black ink. I used my Copic Markers to color all the images, and then used my ScanNCut to cut them out.
Cut, Ink, Create – It’s All in the Details!
The July KOTM features an impressive collection of dies—such as shopping carts, tote bags, and price tags —perfect for creating your own mini-store scene.
Additionally, I used Picnic Elements, Spring Blossoms Small Die, Leafy Vine Die, Stitched Ribbon Die, and Canopy Die to bring my cards to life. I die-cut each element from colored cardstock and inked the edges of the die-cuts with coordinating ink to create depth on each piece. This simple step really helps the pieces pop off the card!
Build the Scene – Backgrounds That Tell a Story
For the background, I used the In the City Paper Pack to set the scene for Marci’s shopping trip. For the adorable ostrich, I chose a fun yellow patterned paper with a retro vibe from the Life Documented Paper Pack. To ground the scene and give the ostrich a place to stand, I added a strip of grey cardstock at the bottom to serve as the “floor.”
Card Construction – Where the Magic Happens
Once all the components were ready, I brought the scenes to life. For Marci’s card, I added the die-cut tote bag filled with goodies and finished it off with a coordinating sentiment. The second card, featuring the adorable ostrich from the Time to Shop clear stamp set, came together with a charming storefront backdrop and a couple of fun sentiments to tie the whole design together.
