Hello everyone,

The first Valentine’s Day card of this year, based on the current Scrapping For Less Facebook Group Sketch Challenge turned out pretty adorable.

I combined the moose stamp from Scrapping for Less and the polka heart backdrop from Lawn Fawn to create this not-so-traditional Valentine’s Day card.

First, I began by working on the background by ink blending Fired Brick and Candied Apple Distress Oxide inks on to a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock. I then die cut the heart backdrop and set the panel aside to work on the focal images.

For my little moose to look a vee bit more festive, I hand drew in hearts hanging from his antlers and used my Copic markers to color him in.

Color Combination

Antlers: E55, E57, E59
Head/body: E33, E35, E37, E39
Nose/beard/belly: E35, E33, E31, E30
Hooves: W7, W5, W3

To assemble the card, I adhered the hearts panel to a white A2 sized card base, added a strip of patterned paper across the bottom and added my sentiment on top of two hearts.

I am so excited to be part of the Save the Crafty YouTuber Video Hop, which was put together by the very talented Justine Hovey to discover and celebrate the crafters of cardmaking video tutorials!

For my part in this hop, I wanted to share with you a few ways to create backgrounds using alcohol inks.

I made a few examples highlighting different techniques of using alcohol inks and I hope you pick up a new tip or two. For all of my examples, I used Ranger White Yupo Paper and Ranger Alcohol inks, as well as bringing in a few tools!

The first card features an ombre background mimicking a sunset scene with silhouette die cut from Spellbinders called Away We Go. I debated on the sentiment a little bit but in the end, I settled on white heat embossing the sentiment on a piece of black cardstock and adhered it to the top of the card.

For the second card, I focused on creating very controlled texture of the alcohol inks in creating an underwater scene. I think this is my most favorite background out of the bunch. I used a mermaid stamp from Hero Arts and completed the card with a sentiment which I white heat embossed on a piece of black cardstock.

Copic Coloring:
Hair: E44, E43
Skin: E00, E21, E11
Tail: V17, V15, V12

For the third card, I used blending solution, alcohol inks of various color and a straw to move the ink around and create this card. I added some die cuts from Spellbinders but really kept the focus on the background.

For this card, I tried a technique that I’ve seen done in various way and in my version, I used a tray with water and dropped a few colors of alcohol ink in. I then took a piece Neenah Smooth Solar White 110lb. cardstock and dipped and slid in the paper. The result was amazing and created a subtle marble background.
The focal image on this card is from Visible Image Alice in Wonderland Collection which I colored with my Copic markers, die cut it using my ScanNCut and adhered it with fun foam to complete this card.

Copic Colors:
Hair: E31, Y00, Y02
Dress, Bow: B16, B12, B000
Skin: E00, E21, E11, E04
Socks, apron: C2, C1, C0, Blender
Shoes: C7, C5, C3

Using a felt pad tool saturated with blending solution, I added drops of red alcohol ink to the Yupo paper and smeared it around. I kept adding layers of ink and blending solution until I had a nice dimensional layer of red color on the paper. To create the background I envisioned, I added polka dots of black alcohol ink to the entire background and then added gold maxitive in the same form and then used a clean felt pad with blending solution to blend everything out. I paired this background with the Queen of Hearts from Visible Image that I colored using Copic markers.

Copic Coloring:
Hair: R39, R27, R24, R22, C9, C7, C5
Dress: R39, R27, R24, R22, C9, C7, C5, C2, C00
Skin: E00, E21, E11
Crown and pendent: Y06

For this last card, I used a couple of different shades of blue to create this background by first pouring some blending solution into a plastic cup and adding a couple of drops of alcohol ink. Then, I poured the mixture over my Yupo paper and tipped the paper to remove the excess. I added several pours of the mixture of blending solution and ink to create this background. Using a large floral image from the June 2018 Simon Says Stamp Kit, I white heat embossed the detailed image onto the Yupo paper. I melted the embossing powder very carefully and quickly so that i didn’t melt the Yupo paper. To finish off the card, I created a frame using antique frames dies from Penny Black. I decided not to add a sentiment and leave this card with just the focal image as the star of the show.

Hello everyone,

Today I’m sharing three cards featuring the Simon Says Stamp September 2018 Card Kit Beautiful Mermaids stamp set.

My three cards feature the mermaid stamped images onto a piece of Bristol Smooth cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black Ink and heat set with black embossing powder.

I decided to pull out my Jane Davenport Watercolor Palettes for these images since it’s been a little while and I absolutely love to watercolor, it is my favorite medium to use!

For the first card I colored the mermaid using a beautiful purple on the tail and thought that dark hair would complement well.

I used the following colors and palette combinations for the first mermaid: Skin – Buff from the Neutral Palette, Mystic and Royal from the Brights Palette for the tail and seashell, and for the hair I used Cocoa from the Neutral Palette.

For the second card, I combined a teal color called 70’s eye shadow from the Brights Palette for the tail, Kiss Kiss from the Neutral Palette for the hair and finished the shell with a color called Spice from the Neutral Palette.

I tried really hard not to color the image like the famous mermaid we all know but once I saw the two colors in the Palette Glitz-Sea called Sea Mist and Ariel there was no way it was not gonna happen. So for card three, I colored up this image just like the little mermaid.

After I finished coloring and fussy cutting the images out, I wanted to create a background worthy of the images and thought I’d create some stunning backgrounds using stencils and glitter paste.
I had a lot of fun creating these cards and I absolutely love the end result of combining the water colored images and the stencils with the glitter paste.  I think it’s simple yet stunning.

Hello everyone,

Today I’m sharing the four cards I made using the Scrapping for Less Flavor of the Month July 2018 Card Kit, a bit late. With the start of school, it has been hectic with homework and after school activities around here. But I did sneak away and played in my craft room to create these four cards.

For these cards I followed the sketch provided by Scrapping For Less over on their blog which can be downloaded and/or saved to your computer.

The first card I made, I followed sketch number 1 and used collection number 2 with the adorable Sunny Studio’s stamp Make a Wish, exclusive to Scrapping For Less.

Color combination I used
Cake: R85, R83 and R81 BG49 and BG45
Candles: YR68, YR68, Y06 and Y00
Plate: W4 and W2

For the second card, I followed sketch number 2 and collection number 3. I used the ephemera in the collection as my focal point elements against the adorable patterned paper.

For the third card, I followed sketch number 3 and collection number 4 with the stamp by Create a Smile: Rock on (which I orginally thought it  was a bus!

 

Color combination I used:
BG99, BG93, W7, W5, W3 and W1

And the last card I made followed sketch number 4 and collection number 1. This is my favorite card from this kit as it features the adorable foxes from Avery Elle.

Color combination I used:
YR18, YR68 and YR65
Y17, Y15 and Y11
BG49 and BG45

Hello everyone,

I have a quick card I made using the contents of Scrapping For Less Flavor of the Month June Card Kit featuring the Just Beachy from Little Darling Rubber Stamp, exclusive to Scrapping for Less.

After stamping all the images onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb. cardstock, I used my Copic markers to color the images up.

Crab:
Beach chair/umbrella

After using my ScanNCut2 to die cut my images, I worked on creating the card layout with the patterned paper and the beach scene for my critters. I’ve created a process video of the card linked below.
