Living here in Florida, it’s hard not to feel inspired by all things nautical, like boating culture, year-round tropical climate, and the feel of a seaside getaway. This card totally captures that feeling for me, like a tiny seaside escape tucked into an envelope.

For this card, I started by stamping the images from the Smooth Sailing set by Pink and Main onto smooth white cardstock. I colored everything in using Copic markers, listed below.
Copic Markers
- Red: R59, R29, R27, R24
- White: T3, T1, T0
- Yellow: Y15, Y13, Y11
- Black: T9, T7, T5
- Brown: E25, E23, E21
- Seagull: T5, T3, T1, T0
For the background, I die-cut two panels, an A2-sized blue panel and a slightly smaller teal one. I embossed both using the Catch a Wave embossing folder. To highlight that beautiful texture, I gently rolled white ink over the blue panel and blue ink over the teal panel using a brayer. This really made those wave details pop without overpowering the design.
For the sentiment, I heat-embossed it in white onto red cardstock, then trimmed it with scissors. To smooth out the edges, I used a sanding block and rounded some of the sharp edges.

I was inspired by the current Pink and Main challenge to create texture, and embossing folders are one of my favorite ways to do just that. The wave patterns add so much movement and perfectly complement the nautical theme. It almost feels like you can hear the ocean just by looking at it.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a crafty day!
