Joy Clair Designs Making Memories

Hi crafty friends! It’s the first Sunday of the month, and I’m sharing my project for the current Lil Patch of Crafty Friends Challenge Blog. We are celebrating Christmas in July, sponsored by Joy Clair Designs.

All of the designers are using Making Memories Digital stamp for their project. In this set, there are three digital images and five sentiments. I picked the image of the adorable bear in a sweater, printed it, and colored the image with my Copic Markers.

Copic Marker Combination

Bear: B29, B27, B25, B23, B21
Sweater: R89, R39, R27, R24
Scarf: B05, BG01, BG00, BG000

Joy Clair Designs Making Memories

To create the background, first I die-cut a piece of smooth cardstock into an A2-sized panel. Next, I ink blended the panel with Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink in the center of the panel and Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink at the outer edges. Next, I added the sparkle using a flurry stencil and Stickles Glitter Gel in Moon Dust.

I had to be a little creative with the sentiment by printing the digital sentiment onto black cardstock using my laser printer then I simply added white foiling. I honestly was not sure if it would work, but I had to try, and VOILA!

Joy Clair Designs Making Memories

Once the panel was dry, I adhered the image and the sentiment using foam adhesive to the front of my panel to complete my card.

Join us for the Christmas in July celebration on the Lil Patch of Crafty Friends and enter our challenge for a chance to win a generous prize from our sponsor.

Your Next Stamp Spread Your Wings | Ink Blending on Colored Cardstock | Copic Coloring

Your Next Stamp Spread Your Wings

Hi crafty friends! I hope your weekend is off to a great start in your part of the world. Here is Florida, it’s hot and rainy at the moment. I’m hopeful that the weekend weather will get better and I can get into the pool over this long weekend.

I have a fun birthday card to share with you featuring Your Next Stamps’ Spread Your Wings. I stamped and colored the butterfly images with my Copic Markers in the following combinations.

Copic Marker Combination

Teal Butterfly: BG49, BG45, BG32
Pink Butterfly: RV69, RV55, RV63, RV000
Yellow Butterfly: Y17, Y15, Y11
Butterfly Body: W7, W5, W3, W1

Your Next Stamp Spread Your Wings

Years ago, I learned a shortcut to create quick and easy backgrounds and I still use this technique in my cardmaking today. I simply use a colored panel of cardstock and ink blend to add depth and interest in my backgrounds.

For this card, I die cut a piece of pink cardstock and ink blended a cloud stencil using Kitsch Flamingo Distress Oxide ink. Next, I added splatters with diluted white acrylic paint and left the panel to dry.

Once the panel was dry, I used a stitched rectangle die to trim the panel, stamped the sentiment, and added my butterflies with foam adhesive. And that’s it.

Making beautiful handmade cards does not have to be time-consuming, it can be stunning and quick at the same time.

Pawsome Stamps Announcement | Distress Oxide Spray Background Card | Copic Coloring

Pawsome Stamps Playful Pandas

Hi crafty friends! I’ve been keeping this a secret and I can finally share that I am joining the Pawsome Stamps design team for the upcoming term. I am super excited about this new creative journey!

As an official design team member, I want to share my first card featuring the adorable pandas from the Playful Pandas stamp set.

I stamped all of the images in the set and colored everything using my Copic Markers in the following combinations.

Copic Marker Combination

Panda (dark) N7, N5, N3, N1
Panda (light) N1, N0, R20, R30
Bamboo: E31, G28, YG25, YG11

Pawsome Stamps Playful Pandas

To create the background, first I die-cut a piece of watercolor cardstock into an A2-sized panel. Next, I reached for several Distress spray inks to set my scene. I used Squeezed Lemonade towards the bottom portion of my card, Wild Honey in the middle, and Picked Raspberry at the top then set the panel aside to dry.

Using a stitched grass hillside die, I die-cut green cardstock and ink blended the bottom with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink to give it some shading. I also added texture by splattering it with white acrylic paint.

Once all of the elements were dry, I adhered them to the background panel using foam adhesive and finished my card by embossing the sentiment.

In case you missed the announcement, here is the official Instagram post. I hope you will come back later in the month to see more of my design team projects featuring this awesome company.

MFT Stamps Bunny Wishes | Rainbow Slimline Card | Copic Coloring

MFT Stamps Bunny Wishes

Hi crafty friends! What is it about rainbows that put a smile on people’s faces? Maybe it’s because a rainbow symbolizes hope, happiness, and a sense of excitement. Or, maybe it’s the promise of sunshine after the rain.  Whatever feelings a rainbow elicits for you, for these two friends, a rainbow makes their hearts feel happy!

I stamped and colored the image from MFT Stamps’ Bunny Wishes set using Copic Markers. Next, I die-cut the SMILE die-namics and used Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers to add the rainbow colors.

Copic Marker Combination

Bunnies: E44, E43, E2, E41

Zig Clean Color Real Brush

Pink: 025, 200
Yellow: 052, 050, 051
Green: 041, 053
Blue: 030, 031, 036
Purple: 080, 081

MFT Stamps Bunny Wishes

To create the scene, first I die cut smooth cardstock using a stitched slimline die then, I ink blended the sky using the Micro Cloud Stencil and Distress Oxide ink in Mermaid Lagoon.  I used a stitched hillside die to create a grounding element for my image and added a little shading with Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink.

To finish my card, I stamped and embossed a sentiment, then added all the images with liquid adhesive or glue dots. A quick little tip for aligning the large SMILE die-cut is to use a ruler since the letters are individual and I wanted to be sure that such a bold sentiment was perfectly straight.

Gerda Steiner Designs Lucky Duck

Hey crafty friends, it’s a hot day here in Florida, and the forecast calls for the beach. But these little ducks will enjoy a nice pond to cool off.

For this card, I used Gerda Steiner’s Lucky Duck, and Stitched Pond die by Lawn Fawn. I began the card by stamping all the images onto smooth white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink. Next, I colored the images with Copic Markers using the color combinations listed below.

Copic Marker Combination

Ducks: Y17, Y15, Y13, Y11, YR09, YR04, YR02
Cattails: E57, E34, E31, G99

After coloring all the images and using my ScanNCut to cut those out, I set them aside to work on the background. Using a stitched rectangle die, I trimmed a piece of cardstock to an A2-sized panel and inked the background with Distress Oxide ink in Antique Linen, Spun Sugar, and Worn Lipstick.

Next, I used a piece of teal cardstock and the Stitched Pond Die to die-cut the pond, then I inked the edges with Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide.

Lawn Fawn Toucan Do It | Ink Spray Background | Copic Coloring

Lawn Fawn Toucan Do It

Hey crafty friends! How many times have you heard that classifying yourself as a beach or mountain person says something about your personality? Apparently, beach people are more of an extrovert and mountain people are more introverts.

I’m not sure if there is any truth but it’s been a dream of mine to visit the mountains of the rainforest and the inspiration behind my card.

For this card, I used Toucan Do It, Stitched Mountain Borders, and Meadow Borders Die all by Lawn Fawn. I began by stamping the images onto smooth cardstock and using my Copic Markers to color everything in the following color combinations.

Copic Marker Combination

Cheetah Body: E59, E57, E55, E53, E51, E50
Cheetah Spots: E29, E23
Toucan: N9, N7, N5, N3, Y35, YR00, Y00, YG05, B05, B00, R39
Butterflies: B05, B00, N7, RV19, RV52
Tropical Palm Leaves: G28, G07, YG25, YG11
Tropical Foliage: BG57, BG32, Y06,
Tree Branches: E27, E25, E23, E21, YG01, YG05, YG17
Hibiscus Flower: RV66, Y06
Flower: RV00, RV55, Y06

Lawn Fawn Toucan Do It

After coloring all of the images and using my ScanNCut to cut those out, I set them aside to work on the background. Using Distress Oxide spray in Mermaid Lagoon and Dylusions Ink Spray in London Blue, I sprayed a panel of watercolor paper for the background and then began working on the background elements.

I die cut the Stitched Mountains using kraft cardstock and added a little Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink for dimension. Next, I die-cut green cardstock and added Mowed Lawn Distress Oxide ink to the bottom edge.

Once all of the elements had time to dry or set, I used glue dots or liquid adhesive to create my little scene.

I was inspired by the current LawnFawnatics Challenge to create this card featuring my dream getaway destination to the mountains.

Lawn Fawn Ladybug and Leaf plus Sunrise Backdrop | Die-cut Card

Lawn Fawn Ladybug and Leaf

Hey crafty friends, it’s my first week of summer vacation, and what better way to celebrate than playing in my craft room. I have a fun card to share with you, inspired by the current Lawnfawnatics Challenge. The theme for this challenge is to use all dies.

My card features several dies by Lawn Fawn to create this very summery card. I began by creating the background first. I ink blended the panel with Wild Honey in the center of the panel at the bottom, then Squeezed Lemonade across the rest of the panel. I worked back and forth between the two shades to create a seamless blend. Next, I added paint splatters for texture and set the panel aside to dry.

Lawn Fawn Ladybug and Leaf

Once the background was dry, I used the Sunrise Backdrop in landscape format to die cut the ink blended panel. I die-cut all the pieces from Ladybug and Leaf die set from colored cardstock and pieced together the elements.

The last element I die cut was the Scripty Hugs die for the sentiment. I attached all the die-cut pieces onto the background using foam adhesive or glue dots. To finish, I used a white gel pen to add highlights to the different elements on my card.

I hope you like my card and as always, thank you so much for stopping by; until next time….sprinkle a little creativity on your day!

Gerda Steiner Designs Penguin with Heart | Colored with Copic Markers

Gerda Steiner Designs Penguin with Heart

Happy Sunday crafty friends! Cheers to kicking off the summer season. I am a preschool teacher by day, and my summer officially begins in less than two weeks. How excited am I??!!! I would say from all the excitement if I could do a backflip, I sure would!

I created a fun card featuring Gerda Steiner Designs’ Penguin Love stamp set with a fun summery background. Where else can you see penguins and palm trees? Only in Florida!

To begin this card, I stamped and colored the image with Copic Markers and used my ScanNCut to cut the image out.

Copic Color Combinations

Penguin: N9, N7, N5, N3, N1, N0
Heart: RV17, RV55, RV52, RV00

Gerda Steiner Designs Penguin with Heart

For the background, I started by ink blending Tattered Rose in the center and Worn Lipstick around the edges. Then I used a cover die to die cut the panel. I also added the palm tree that was die cut and colored with Copic Markers.

When my background was done, I added the sentiment, clouds, palm tree, and the image with foam adhesive or glue dots to finish off my card. I hope you like my card and as always, thank you so much for stopping by; until next time….sprinkle a little creativity on your day!
