Gerda Steiner Designs Catch a Wave

Hey crafty friends! It is officially summer, and this little duck is celebrating in a big wavy way. In my part of the world, summer is pretty hot and we do spend a lot of time in the water. Although we don’t spend as much time at the ocean as this little ducky, we do hit the pool on most days.

For this beach-themed card, I used the little ducky from Gerda Steiner Designs’ Catch a Wave. I stamped all of the images onto white smooth cardstock and colored the images with Copic Markers.

Copic Color Combinations

Ducky: Y08, Y04, Y00 on the second blend I added YR04
Beak / Feet: YR18, YR04
Pink: RV17, RV55, RV52
Purple: V06, V04, V000
Blue: B29, B24, B32
Teal: BG05, BG01, BG000
Glasses: N7, N5, N3

I used several dies to create the beach scene. First, I ink blended a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock with Squeezed Lemonade, Mustard Seed, and Wild Honey Distress Oxide inks. Next, I created the splatters with acrylic paint. And finally, I die cut the panel using an Avery Elle Ellements die.

For the bottom of the scene, I ink blended the ocean waves with Blueprint Sketch, the sand with Antique Linen, and die cut both of the pieces with Kinetic Straight Waves Die Set by Whimsy Stamps.

To finish my card, I added a white heat embossed sentiment and arranged my images and die-cut elements using foam adhesive or liquid adhesive.

This little ducky sure has the right idea to start off the summer! As always, thank you so much for stopping by, until next time….sprinkle a little creativity on your day!
