Hero Arts Color Layering Stamps | Creating Backgrounds

Hi everyone,

In today’s video and blog post, I’m sharing five cards featuring Hero Arts’ Color Layering Stamps. For these cards, I’m sharing several ways to incorporate subtle background techniques so that the stamped image remains the star of the card.

For the first card, I am using Hero Arts Color Layering Monarch Butterfly stamp, set onto a lightly inked background.

For the Monarch Butterfly, I am using Hero Arts Bold ink in Summer Sky for the lightest shade, Indigo for the mid-shade and finally black dye ink for the outline and the darkest shade.

For the second card, I decided to create a stamped background by using a Hero Arts Ring Bold Prints Background stamp with Lawn Fawn Mermaid ink. This background reminds me of sea bubbles and is paired perfectly with the Hero Arts Color Layering Gold Fish.

For the “Gold Fish” I used Altenew Crip Inks in Frosty Pink for the lightest shade, Coral Berry for the mid-shade and Grapevine for those small details in the darkest shade.

For this card, I followed the same card design as the previous card, changing only the cardstock color for the background panel. This time I chose a teal cardstock and did some tone on tone stamping with the Lawn Fawn Mermaid ink.

To complete this card, I am using the Hero Arts Color Layering Betta Fish with Lawn Fawn dye inks in Narwhal for the outline, Wild Rose for the most solid stamp, and Lobster ink for all of the details.

This was the most involved card out of all of the cards I made because I stamped out several colors of the Color Layering Rose by Hero Arts.

Yellow Rose: Altenew Crip inks in Buttercream (light), Warm Sunshine (medium) and Caramel Toffee (dark)
Pink Rose: Frosty Pink (light), Coral Berry (medium) and Ruby Red (dark)
Teal Rose: Lawn Fawn inks in Minty Fresh (light), Merman (medium) and Peacock (dark)
Purple Rose: Lawn Fawn inks in Fresh Lavender (light), Grape Soda (medium) and Juice Box (dark)

And for the last and final card for today, I am creating a little sea scene using a Hero Arts Reef Border and Fancy Frame Die.

After I die cut the Reef Border from Neenah 110 lb., I added several layers of cardstock to pop up the die cut and adhered it to an inked background.

To complete the ocean scene, I added the Color Layering Sea Turtle stamped in Lime Green, Green Hills and Forever Green Hero Arts Ink.
