Hey crafty friends! I hope you are keeping warm where ever you are. I’m in Florida and for us Floridians – 60’s is cold. Although it could just be me, but, this girl definitely misses the warm weather. Today’s card uses Winter Birds by Newton’s Nook Designs and is inspired by the current color challenge at Inky Paws.
I love cardinals, their spectacular red color is a symbol of absolute beauty. After stamping the images with Copic-friendly ink, I used my Copic Markers to color the images.
Copic Color Combinations
Cardinal: R39, R29, R27, R24, R17, R14, W7
Berries: C5, C4, C2
I struggled with the background quite a lot before settling on using a piece of patterned paper. I matted the cream music sheet piece of patterned paper to an A2-sized brown cardstock. Interestingly enough, the combination worked.
Next, I used the small berry image to create a wreath surrounding the little cardinal and adhered those on a piece of vellum. I attached the cardinal to the center of the wreath with foam adhesive and centered a sentiment strip at the bottom.
It’s a simple card, with a vintage feel and very unlike me. But I absolutely love the way the card came together. I hope you do too! As always thank you so much for stopping by, until next time….sprinkle a little creativity on your day!
