Hello everyone, now that Valentine’s Day is over, I wanted to rebuild my stash of birthday cards starting with this
adorable monkey from Your Next Stamp.
To begin my card, I stamped the image of the monkey onto a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb cardstock with Memento
Tuxedo Dye ink and colored the image with Copic markers. Once I finished coloring, I used the ScanNCut to cut the image out.
Copic Markers Combination
Monkey: E49, E27, E25, E23, E31, E30
Monkey Face: E11, E21, E000, E0000
Branch: E29, E27, E23, E31
Leaves: YG17, YG13, YG01
For the background, I created my own stamped pattern with one of the leaf images in the stamp set. Using Versamark ink,
I stamped the image onto a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock and heat set the white embossing powder. I created a
bold background by ink blending Distress ink in Mowed Lawn in the center of an A2 sized panel then added
Twisted Citron at the outer edges covering the entire panel. Of course, I had to add the water splatters and the
white paint for some added interest.
With the second to largest ripped rectangles die, I die cut the center out of the top panel then added foam tape to the frame
before adhering it to a top folding card base. The only thing left to do to complete this card was to create a sentiment,
which I stamped onto a piece of black cardstock and heat set it with white embossing powder. I added the focal
image and a few black enamel dots to finish the card off.
This card was partly inspired by the current Your Next Stamp Challenge # 132: Create Your Own Background. I hope you enjoyed this card and found it inspiring.
Thank you so much for stopping by, until next time….sprinkle a little creativity on your day!
