MFT Mermazing ~ Copic Colored ~ Sketch Challenge 347

I finally had a chance to pull out MFT’s Mermazing Stamp set I bought in May to make this week’s card for the MFT Sketch Challenge-Sketch 347.

MFT Mermazing stamp colored with Copic markers and patterned paper handmade card.

I first stamped the mermaid sitting onto a piece of Spectrum Noir paper using Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink and masked her to stamp the rock behind that she would be sitting on. I also stamped two more rocks as individual pieces.

I used Copic markers to color all of my images in the following combinations:

Skin: E50, E51 and E53
Hair: E50, E53, YR21, YR23, E35 and E37
Tail/hair piece/top: BG10 and BG13, I also used tip to tip for the medium shade blend
Rocks: E31, E35 and E37

I fussy cut all of the images and set them aside for the moment. I wanted a sun set as the background for the little mermaid, and I used a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock, an MFT Radiating Rays Stencil and Distress ink to create it.

To put this card together, I cut a piece of patterned paper from the Echo Park Sweet Summertime paper pad using the Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables from Lawn Fawn and adhered it to a top folding A2 sized card base. I took the sun rays background and die cut it using a circle die from Hero Arts Infinity Dies and then cut it in half.

I really like the end result of this card and I’ve got a perfect little girl to give this card to. Until next time thanks for stopping by and always sprinkle a little creativity on your day!

Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Kite ~ Ink Smooshing with Distress Ink ~ Spectrum Noir Markers

Hey everyone,

This cute little card was inspired by Lawn Fawn’s challenge blog summer theme challenge. They host a challenge twice a month with a new theme for each challenge. I find that the challenges allow me to step out of my card making comfort zone and try new things to learn.
So I was super excited for this challenge as I generally don’t build scenes in my cards but wanted to create a background for these cute little squirrels to fly their kites.

Lawn Fawn Cheery Christmas, Stitched Kites, and Sophie’s Sentiment handmade card colored using Spectrum Noir markers. Background created with ink smooshing Distress inks for a soft background.

The background was created by taking my favorite Distress inks for creating a sky and grass and ink smooshing them onto a piece of Ranger watercolor cardstock.
I stamped two squirrels from Lawn Fawn’s Cheery Christmas stamp set onto a piece of Spectrum Noir paper with some Memento Tuxedo Black dye ink and colored them using my Spectrum Noir markers.

Markers I used: TN3, EB3 and EB8

Moving on to the kites, I used Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Kite and die cut pink polka dot cardstock with a black frame to create two kites for these friends to play with.

Lawn Fawn Cheery Christmas, Stitched Kites, and Sophie’s Sentiment handmade card colored using Spectrum Noir markers. Background created with ink smooshing Distress inks for a soft background.

To put this card together, I adhered a piece of bright pink cardstock to the base of a top folding A2 size card base. I took the water colored panel and added some foam tape to the back, more for added support than anything else. I arranged all my images and adhered them with foam tape for some added dimension.
I wanted to bring in some black elements to tone down the brightness of the card and used black and white baker’s twine for the line of the kite and wrapped a bit of it around the bottom.
To complete this card, I used a sentiment from Lawn Fawn’s Sophie’s Sentiments and heat embossed it in white onto a piece of black cardstock.

I think it’s a super cute summer inspired card and this is my entry for the Lawn Fawnatics Challenge number 8.

I hope you’re enjoying your summer and as always, thanks for stopping by, until next time….sprinkle a little creativity on your day!

Lawn Fawn Aloha ~ Distress Ink backgrounds ~ Zig Clean Color Markers

Hey everyone,

For the end of the week, I thought I’d have a go at participating in a challenge from Lawn Fawn over on their challenge blog Lawnfawnatics.com
For this week, the challenge was to add watercolor to our projects. Here is my take on the challenge number 7.

Lawn Fawn Aloha stamp colored with Zig Clean Color and Distress Inked background handmade card.

I started by taking a piece of Neenah Solar White cardstock cut down to 4” x 5.5” and die cut a circle in the front. My sweet little girl helped me to cover the cardstock with color splashes using Distress Inks in Picked Raspberry, Ripe Persimmon and Wild Honey.
To create the sunset, I used a piece of watercolor paper and using the same Distress Ink colors I created a watercolor sunset background. The technique I used, I first saw over on Kristina Werner’s blog, where you add a wash of color in a sweeping motion across the desired section. After adding all of the color choices, and drying it, I then added little swirly marks of each color and a lot of water on the brush to each color, and dried it again. I’m really happy with the end result.
Using Lawn Fawn’s Aloha stamp and die set, I stamped the two pineapples onto a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock and Versafine Onyx black pigment ink. I colored the images using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers in 044 deep green for the leaves, and 050 yellow and 052 bright yellow for the pineapples.

To put the card together, I took a piece of bright pink A2 sized card base and added the watercolor sunset, and top cardstock. I put the pineapples on a piece of foam tape for some dimension and added the sunglasses with a little shimmer using Spectrum Noir Sparkle glitter overlay pen. To finish the card, I added the sentiment from the same stamp set by heat embossing it with white embossing powder onto a piece of black cardstock.
This little baby will be entered into the challenge so here’s my fingers crossed for a win!

Thanks for stopping by, until next time….sprinkle a little creativity on your day!

Jillibean Lemonade ~ Prickley Pear Build an Ice cream ~ Distress Ink blending ~ Summer theme cards

Hey everyone,

So I’ve been on a bit of a hiatus, partly because I’ve seem to have lost my crafting mojo and partly because the kids are out of school for the summer, or perhaps because the kids are out of school I’ve lost my mojo.

In either case, we’ve had to adjust and figure out a new schedule in order to have time for our summer adventures and time to create. Speaking of summer, I thought I’d start with a couple of simple summer inspired cards to get back into the swing of things.

For the first card, I used a lemon stamp from Jillibean Soup and stamped it onto a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock using Versafine Onyx Black pigment ink and heat embossed it with black embossing powder.

Jillibean Soup Lemonade Shaker Stamp with Distress ink blending background for a summer inspired handmade card.

I did some ink blending using Distress inks in Squeezed Lemonade towards the inner part of the card and Wild Honey towards the outer part of the card.

To put the card together, I cut a piece of patterned paper from the Echo Park’s Sweet Summertime paper collection using Lawn Fawn’s largest Stitched Rectangle stackable die which I adhered to an A2 sized card base. I cut the lemon paper using Gina Marie Designs’ Scalloped Stitched Nested Rectangle die and adhered it to the patterned paper using some fun foam for some dimension. And finally, I added the sentiment by stamping it onto a piece of cardstock and heat embossing it. As a final touch I added some Nuvo Crystal drops and a piece of twine to complete this card.

Prickley Pear Build an Ice cream Stamp set with Distress ink blending background and colored using Zig Clean Color Real brush markers for a summer inspired handmade cards.

For the second card, I wanted to create a really bright background that screamed SUMMER. To do that I took Distress inks in Picked Raspberry, Mermaid Lagoon, Twisted Citron and Mustard Seed and did some ink blending onto a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock. With a very bright background, I had to balance it with a subtle focal image. Using an ice cream cone stamp from Prickley Pear, I stamped the images onto a piece of Bristol smooth cardstock and heat embossed it with black embossing powder. I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers to color the cone and ice cream image.

Zig’s that I used are:
065 mid brown for the cone, which I blended with a water filled brush
099 cool gray 1 and 901 gray tint for the ice cream, which I blended with Spectrum Noir Crystal Clear Overlay pen
200 Sugared Almond Pink for the base of the ice cream, which I blended with a water filled brush

To put this card together, I cut the very bright background using the largest die from Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Rectangle stackable die set and adhered it to an A2 sized card base. With the ice cream image, I added some foam squares for dimension and placed it in the center of the card. I added the sentiment from the set and added a few enamel dots from Echo Park’s Petticoats and Pinstripes Enamel dots, and that completed this card.

Summer inspired handmade cards

Hopefully, with these two little cards I can start my road to recovery and find where I’ve left that mojo to help me create some more interesting cards. That’s it for now!

Thanks for stopping by, until next time….sprinkle a little creativity on your day!
