Altenew Craft-A-Flower Prairie Roses Layering Die Set | Hello Handmade Card

Hey crafty friends! Summer has officially arrived (speaking as a teacher), and I am soaking up longer days, warmer weather, and a bit more crafty time. Today I’m diving into a card-making adventure featuring roses, stripes, and a big ol’ HELLO!

Altenew’s June 2025 Inspiration Challenge inspired this card and features the Craft-A-Flower Prairie Roses Layering Die Set, Watercolor Stripes Cover Die, and Simply Hello Die.

Craft-A-Flower: Prairie Roses Layering Die Set

Let’s Get Crafty! Step-by-Step Fun

I began by die-cutting all of the elements first. Using white heavyweight cardstock, I die-cut all the roses from the Prairie Roses Layering Die Set, green cardstock for the leaves, and kraft cardstock for the pistil. Next, I used Fine Linen cardstock by Papertrey Ink to die-cut the Watercolor Stripes Cover Die. And finally, I used Simply Hello Die and Gold Mirror cardstock.

Ink-blend baby!

I ink-blended the floral die-cuts using Scrapbooks.com’s Orange Spice and Autumn Leaves Hybrid Ink, and layered each piece with liquid adhesive. For the leaves, I used Lucky Cover Distress Ink on the edges of the leaves.

Assemble Like a Card-Making Avenger!

It’s time to put everything together. I layered the striped die-cut on top of a brown panel. Next, I adhered the bold sentiment and layered the roses using liquid adhesive or foam tape for dimension.

It’s almost done!

Let’s be honest, no card shall live in my craft room without a little splatter (in my opinion). I grabbed gold watercolor and a paintbrush, then loaded the brush and had a splatter party!

I am entering Altenew’s June Inspiration Challenge with this card.

Have a crafty day!

Altenew’s bold blossom Mother’s Day card

Hey everyone,

I’m back this week with another Mother’s Day inspired card, done three different ways. This time I used Altenew’s bold blossom layering stamp set with the coordinating die.
I started by stamping each successive layer from lightest to darker color on some Simon Says Stamp 120# cardstock. I used Memento dye ink in Tuxedo black to stamp the outline of each rose using my Misti stamping tool to ensure consistent stamping. I then cut each flower with the coordinating die.

Colors of the inks I used in each card, from lightest to darkest.

Pink flowers: Memento’s Angel Pink, Rose bud and Love letters.
Blue flowers: Memento’s Summer sky, Bahama blue and Paris dusk.
Yellow flowers: Hero Arts Lemon Yellow, SSS hybrid Lemon Rest and Lawn Fawn’s Carrot.

Using Tim Holtz distress watercolor cardstock and Twinkling H20’s iridescent watercolor allowed me to create a simple and soft watercolor background for my roses to sit on. I love using Twinkling H20’s watercolors, they can be very subtle with just enough shimmer to stand out.  Using Hero Arts’ Celebrate Everyday sentiment stamps, I stamped “Happy Mother’s Day” in the lower right hand corner with archival black ink.

To finish the card, I adhered various color card bases to a top folding A2 size card and continued layering the watercolor background piece and finally adhering the roses with some foam adhesive for added dimension.

I love how these cards turned out. They are very simple and yet very elegant for the special ladies in my life for upcoming Mother’s Day celebration.

I decided to play along with Altenew Inspiration Challenge over on their blog and enter the pink card for the May challenge. Check out their blog for more information. Wish me luck!
